Position Summary

  • At the direction of the Project Manager or the Electrical Engineering Manager, responsible for the hardware and software design, debug, and install of various custom automation systems
  • Provide technical support to our customers including occasional service calls
  • Needs little guidance and direction to complete tasks and projects
  • Lead, support, mentor, and help develop others

Key Functions & Responsibilities

  • Machine PLC and HMI programming to Capital or customer specification
  • Peripheral device programming, including robots, vision, motion control
  • Machine debug and validation
  • Assist with the concept and help develop hardware requirements and design
  • Travel to customer site for installation and startup
  • Typical travel average 25% - 35% primarily domestic with some international
  • Mentor and guide Controls Engineer I and II
  • Adhere to company’s safety policies to create a safe work environment for employees

Competencies

  • Read electrical schematics
  • Excellent problem solving, and trouble shooting skills
  • High attention to detail
  • General knowledge National Electrical Code
  • Experience working with mechanical systems operated by pneumatics, hydraulics, motor controllers
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to meet deadlines

Physical Demands

  • Frequently stand for long periods of time; frequently required to walk
  • Travel domestic and international

Education

  • Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred
  • BS in related engineering field

Experience

  • Required
  • 10+ years with PLC, HMI, motion control, robot, and other automation
