Bathroom Fan Assembly Cell

High MIx. High Speed.

To help Broan-NuTone keep their high-mix fan component production flowing continuously, Acieta designed a multi-robot, assembly cell featuring vision-guided picking and feeder systems, the system handles part variation without retooling.

Benefits

High Mix

Vision-guided picking and feeder systems accommodate part variation across Broan-NuTone's fan component range.

Continuous Flow

A palletized conveyor system connects operator loading, assembly, and outfeed into a single continuous process.

Redeployed Labor

Automating the repetitive pick, place, and assembly steps across the line frees operators for higher-value work.

Integrated Steps

  • The system blends robotic and operator loading of initial fan components onto the palletized conveyor system, for maximum flexibility.

  • Integrated vision systems locate and identify components from feeder systems, guiding robots to pick and orient parts accurately across the full range of fan component variations.

  • Automated robots, drivers, and presses perform assembly operations including label application, screw driving, and torque nut driving.

  • Conveyer cars move components through each stage of the assembly process in sequence, maintaining consistent part flow and timing between stations.

  • Fully assembled fan units exit onto the end-of-line conveyor, completing the automated flow.
